Common-sense rules

Home

The rules we give here are in the spirit of the self-preservation of the organization and the integrity of its mission.

Anything that is illegal in the United States - which is the country this nonprofit operates from - is not allowed.

Any action that would jeopardize the nonprofit status is not allowed. A nonprofit is expected to operate in the spirit of selfless contribution to society. This is a space for teachers to develop themselves, which is something valuable for all of society.

Any action that would jeopardize the non-profit mission is not allowed. Our mission is to provide a space where teachers can experiment and students can participate in classes for free.

Harmful, abusive or predatory acts are not allowed. We reserve the right to judge what constitutes such acts.

Students' privacy must be respected. Recordings can only be made with the consent of the students. Students, especially if being recorded, are instructed to not mention their name, age or where they live. Students should specify a name they should be called in class other than their real name.

Teachers are responsible for moderatoring confusions and conflicts. They are expected to develop their own rules and their own methods of discipline.

Copyrighted material must be paid for by the teacher and the students under the terms provided by the copyright holder and no recording is allowed to be made of any class while it is using copyrighted material. The only exception is if the copyright holder has explicitly granted permission for its use and for the recording of its use. Copyrighted works includes photos, videos and text found on the internet, whether or not the work is marked as copyrighted.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage must be disclosed. This includes using AI to create lesson plans, emails, learning materials, art, computer programs, to tabulate research, to correct assignments, anything. Reason we require disclosure is available here.

We do not permit any member to prioritize any private agenda. We do not accept financial assistance from special interest groups, advertisers, politicians. This is not a space to promote special interests or to derail what is perceived as competition.

We reserve the right to stop any class or disbar any member for failing to adhere to any of the above rules.
